Social Determinants of Health

There are many factors that impact an individual’s health, including their family history, genetics, nutrition security, access to physical activity opportunities, environment, and the social determinants of health. As defined by Healthy People 2030, “The social determinants of health are the conditions in the environments in which people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.”

ASTHO works with its members to focus on population-level interventions, disease prevention, and health metrics can provide leadership and expertise in addressing these social determinants of health (SDoH).
