What is this event?

The 2023 Health Equity Summit: A Movement for Justice is a national convening of state and island area health officials, federal and local partners, and stakeholders committed to advancing health and racial equity. Attendees will have conversations that inspire action to confront health inequities’ root causes and move towards justice.

This hybrid event will convene in Atlanta from April 25 – 26, 2023 and will also feature resources and post event content for all participants. In-person attendance is invitation only. The option for virtual attendance of the Summit on April 26 will be open to the public. The Summit will kick off at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 25 with the Island Areas Panel Discussion and conclude at 3:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 26.

What are the goals of this event?

The goals of the Summit are:

  • To mobilize the public health workforce and stakeholders to prioritize implementing evidence-based practices and policies directed toward advancing the health and well-being of people who have experienced historical discrimination and oppression.
  • To recommend equity practices that are sustainable within our public health system by working alongside community members to envision a nation that supports optimal health for all.
  • To prioritize collaboration and information sharing among state and federal health officials, partners, and stakeholders across states and island jurisdictions to advance equity.
Who is hosting this event?

The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), the national nonprofit organization representing 59 state and territorial public health officials, as well as more than 100,000 professionals they employ. ASTHO convenes public and private sector leaders and partners to discuss emergent issues in state and territorial public health, shares best practices for creating optimal health for the nation, and offers important networking opportunities for state and territorial health officials and leaders, funders, governmental partners, private sector firms and vendors supporting the nation’s public health infrastructure, and other stakeholders.

Do I need to be an ASTHO member to register for/attend the event?

Registration is required to attend the in-person and virtual event. You do not have to be an ASTHO member to attend the virtual event. Virtual attendence is open to the public. Registration is required for both in-person and virtual participation.

Yes, registration is required for all event participants. The event team will provide speakers with a unique registration link.

What is the Photograph and Recording Permission Policy for this event?

By taking part in this virtual event, you give ASTHO full rights to use the images and recordings resulting from screenshots, video recordings, and audio tapings, as well as any reproductions or adaptations of this content for the promotion of its future publications or publicity materials. This may include the right to use them in printed and online publicity, social media, and other ASTHO-branded products. ASTHO is not responsible for individual attendee’s use of your image or likeness. If you do not wish to be photographed, filmed, or otherwise recorded, please email the meetings team.

Questions About the Hybrid Event in Atlanta

How will I know if my registration is confirmed?

All confirmed registrants will receive an email acknowledgment within a few hours of registering from registration@astho.org. If you do not receive this confirmation email, please check spam filters and folders first and then email the meetings team to verify the registration was properly processed.

Will there be registration or event assistance onsite?

Registration is online only. The 2023 Health Equity Summit registration deadline for in-person attendance is April 5, 2023.

Onsite registration will not be available for in-person participation. Registration for the virtual event will remain open through April 26, 2023. Event check-in and assistance will be available onsite for the duration of the hybrid event. This will be where all confirmed registrants will check-in to receive their event badge, which is required for entry and participation onsite. Inquiries about registration, hotel issues, program/agenda, and emergencies can be initially addressed at the event check-in desk.
