ASTHO Grows Senior Leadership Team, Welcomes Two Vice Presidents

ARLINGTON, VA—The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) announced today the addition of two executive public health leaders, Lindsey Myers, MPH, and Jamie Pina, PhD, MSPH, to its expanding team. Myers joins the organization as vice president of social and behavioral health and Pina joins as vice president of public health data modernization.

“Jamie and Lindsey are leaders in their respective public health fields, and I’m honored they’ve decided to join ASTHO for the next phase of their careers,” says Michael Fraser, ASTHO CEO. “As we continue to bounce forward from COVID-19, modernizing our public health data systems and focusing on the social and mental health impacts of the pandemic are going to be key priorities for our members. We are in good hands with them at the helm of these portfolios.”

Myers will oversee the administration, direction, and expansion of ASTHO’s social and behavioral health portfolio, which includes supporting state and territorial health officials and their agencies on opioid overdose prevention, suicide prevention, the prevention of adverse childhood experiences, and related areas. She comes to ASTHO with over 17 years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating prevention programs and policies at the state and local levels. Prior to ASTHO, she served as the branch chief of violence and injury prevention-mental health promotion at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Pina will be responsible for the direction, growth, and management of ASTHO’s public health informatics portfolio, which includes supporting state and territorial health officials and their agencies in addressing current data and technology challenges, as well as preparing and guiding state public health data modernization initiatives through technical assistance, capacity-building, policy development, planning, and implementation actions. He is a public health informatician and comes to ASTHO with 20 years of experience managing information systems to support practice and research in public health and biomedicine. Prior to ASTHO, he served as the director of public and population health informatics at RTI International, where he oversaw a team of scientists and managed the program’s portfolio of scientific work that included federal and philanthropic clients.
